Deal concepts explained in everyday words. Leverage, valuation, and acquisitions, taken apart one idea at a time as I learn them.
I am still a high school student, so these notes show my learning as it happens. They are not expert analysis or investment advice.
Case study notes
Projects I am working through
Leverage in plain terms
Leverage means using borrowed money to buy something bigger than I could afford alone. I am learning that more debt raises both potential returns and potential losses.
Valuation, step by step
A valuation model estimates what a company may be worth. My notes track each assumption so I can see which ones change the answer the most.
How I research
My industry breakdown method
When I start a new industry, I follow the same steps so my notes stay comparable from one project to the next.
1. Define the sector
I list the core products, customers, and how the businesses in the sector make money.
2. Map the numbers
I pull public filings and compare margins, growth, and debt across several companies.
3. Write the lesson
I finish each project by writing what I learned in plain language, including what I still do not understand.
